Grace That Sets Us Free

DAY TWO

You're Not Alone

A difficult situation can make us feel as though we are the only one who understands how heavy it has become. We can keep turning it over in our minds, wondering what we should do next. But God does not ask us to carry everything alone.

At the Wedding at Cana, Mary noticed that something was wrong. She brought the need to Jesus, trusting that he could do what she could not. Then she turned to the servants and told them to listen to him. Mary still points us in the same direction. She does not take our troubles away from us, but she helps us bring them to her Son. Whatever your knot may be, remember today: You’re not alone.

DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU.
JOHN 2:5

Mary’s words at Cana are simple, but they carry a lifetime of trust. She brings the need to Jesus and then points others towards him. We can do the same with whatever we are carrying.

YOUR INVITATION

Today, tell Jesus about your knot as simply as you can. You might speak to Him while you are walking, driving, working or sitting quietly. Tell Him what is happening, what you are worried about and what you wish could be different.

Then pause and remember: I am not carrying this alone.

If there is someone you trust, consider letting them know that you are carrying something difficult. Sometimes allowing another person to stand beside us is part of God’s answer to our prayer.

PRAYING WITH MARY

Mary, stay close to me as I bring this knot to Jesus. When I feel alone or unsure what to do, remind me that I do not have to carry everything by myself. Pray that I will hear your Son’s voice and, like you at Cana, have the courage to do whatever he asks.

Mary, Untier of Knots, pray for us.

—

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

WISDOM FROM THE CHURCH

She invites each of us to trust in her prayers.
Saint John Paul II
