Cana Youth is our new archdiocesan youth ministry.
To support young people to feel part of something bigger, we have bought our youth groups together under a common identity.

The first Cana Retreat will be launched this year in 2026. It will go for one whole day.
We hope to build on this in years to come by moving to a retreat venue and extending to several days in length.
17 Parish Youth Coordinators and 30 young people were part of the discernment for naming our new youth ministry identity.
We love the imagery of the wedding feast of Cana; the superabundance of God’s love; the Kingdom of heaven banquet; and the invitation to bring what we have.
Also… we wanted a biblical and Marian name. We found that generic names would often have a double meaning. We’re glad we didn’t go for Braver Youth!

Cana Youth Groups are for high school students and Cana Kids Groups are for primary school students.

If you want to be involved in a local youth group you could enquire with them about volunteering or you could apply to become a Parish Youth Coordinator. To proceed you will need to first complete the safeguarding obligations.

The Apostolate is a ministry that forms young adults to know their Catholic faith and share it with others.

Most of our PYCs are paid 3.5hrs per week, some 5hrs per week.
The employed hours accounts for the amount of ministry activity involved in the role each week.
Some young adults ask to become Parish Youth Coordinators, but choose to volunteer their time.
Many around Canberra and several in NSW.
Generally, parishes with current PYCs will continue offer roles.
If you apply for a parish that doesn’t have a PYC, we still bring them your expression of interest and we explore kickstarting youth ministry in that new parish.

Our archdiocesan events are authentically Catholic.
Moreover, many of our events, such as Guinness and God encourage participants to bring friends of other faiths and beliefs.
