SUNDAY 16 AUGUST
Novena | Day Nine
Daily Opening Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit.
Shape us in love that seeks the good of all,
in joy that does not fade amid uncertainty,
and in peace that gives clarity to our listening and discernment.
Teach us patience in our shared journey together,
kindness in our words,
and goodness in the choices set before us.
Ground us in faithfulness to the way of Jesus,
attune us to gentleness in our relationships with others,
and steady us with self-control when we are tempted to rush.
Draw us into a deeper conversion of heart,
renewing what has grown weary,
reorientating what has lost its way,
and opening us again to the life you are bringing forth.
Amen.
Faith that Perseveres
As this Novena draws to a close, the Gospel presents us with the faith of the Canaanite woman, who approaches Jesus with humility, persistence, and trust. Though faced with obstacles, she does not lose heart. Her confidence in the Lord’s mercy opens the way for healing and new life.
As a local Church, we too are called to persevere in faith, especially when the way ahead is not fully clear. Renewal does not depend on having every answer, but on remaining close to Christ and trusting that he continues to lead his people. Like the woman in today’s Gospel, may we approach the future with courage, hope, and confidence in God’s goodness.
We continue to place our hopes and uncertainties into the Lord’s hands. Guided by the Holy Spirit, may we continue to seek God’s will together and follow wherever Christ leads.
Woman, you have great faith.
Let your wish be granted.
Matthew 15:28
Intention
We ask for faith that remains steadfast when the path ahead is uncertain. We pray for all who will participate in the Archdiocesan Assembly and for the whole people of God whom they serve. May we trust in the Lord’s mercy, persevere in hope, and remain open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
Daily Closing Prayer
Holy Spirit, you who move in our hearts and lives,
seal in us the grace we have asked for today.
Bless the work of the Archdiocesan Assembly and the ongoing renewal of our local Church.
Guide our conversations, planning and decisions,
so that all we do may serve the Gospel and make Jesus known and loved.
Shape us into signs of communion and hope,
as we share our gifts for the life of the world.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
