In March, the Archdiocese officially launched the Cenacle Institute for Synodal Evangelisation, with over 120 registered from parishes, schools, communities and agencis across the Archdiocese. It was encouraging to witness the collective enthusiasm and to receive affirming feedback on the importance of dedicated adult faith formation in the spirit of synodal evangelisation.
Archbishop Christopher Prowse shared his vision for the Institute before a panel of practioners from across the Archdiocese shared their hopes for the Institute, including: Professor Darius von Güttner Sporzyński (Canberra Campus Dean, Australian Catholic University), Helena Zobec (Chair, Catholic Women’s Taskforce), Christopher Evans (Religious Education Coordinator, St John Vianney Primary School, Waramanga) and Andrea Rose Thomas (Youth Minister, Daramalan College). They spoke to their hopes for the Institute as a centre for formation and accompaniment, fostering a new generation of “informed, countercultural” missionary disciples.
Participants engaged in a brief synodal reflection and dialogue session, reflecting in small groups before sharing the fruit of the discernment to the broader group. Many highlighted the need for strong foundations in faith formation as well as spaces for listening, discernment and collaboration across the Archdiocese.
The launch marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter as the Institute seeks to call, form and send a new generation of missionary disciples for the life and mission of the Church. Offerings include Formation Forums, Courses and Parish Intensive. Invitations for such initiatives will start being shared across regional hubs in the coming months.
